Paris Continues to Exist Despite AP Ban

Looking at this blog, I noticed that I have conducted MANY experiments similar to the one week publication ban that the Associated Press did with Paris Hilton. I will probably do it again. It is an interesting coincidence that the ban was over just in time for a good story about her arrest for driving with a suspended license.

Paris does not need to drive. I have a tiny bit of sympathy for people who break the law by driving with a suspended license when it is to go to some Joe job so they can feed their kids and pay their rent. I have no sympathy for Paris.

I had previously published a rumor that Paris stood to profit personally from the website, but I think her continued legal battle to shut it down completely and permanently put those rumors in doubt. The circumstances surrounding the publication of the private and provocative materials are strange. Paris is supposed to have failed to pay the rent on a storage locker and had her personal belongings auctioned off.

Paris may have been sentenced to attend Alcoholic Anonymous. Moderation Management, which promotes drinking in moderation instead of abstinence got some free press by inviting Paris to attend their meetings.

Moderation Management founder Marc Kern says that Paris shouldn’t have to attend AA meetings with common drunks:

“Paris is obviously an early stage problem drinker, and an abstinence group is an overkill and inappropriate for a celebrity…To mandate that Paris Hilton attend an abstinence-only support group is counterproductive and is not really going to help, if our goal is to rehabilitate or educate. “What is best for her? Hilton sued the Web site ParisExposed.com last month, accusing it of exploiting her private personal belongings for commercial gain. The injunction issued Friday temporarily bars the Web site from releasing Hilton’s Social Security number, health data and other personal information.

Hilton’s spokesman, Elliott Mintz, said Saturday he was pleased by the move.

“I know what this has done personally and emotionally to Paris,” Mintz said. “As far as I’m concerned, this is the most disturbing intrusion upon the privacy of a public figure that I’ve ever witnessed. “

The subscription-based Web site was launched last month and claims to have footage of Hilton in a “sexy bubble bath” video and various shots of the 25-year-old socialite in “racy situations.”

Hilton previously said she put her possessions in storage two years ago when she and her sister, Nicky, moved out of a house that had been burglarized.

The lawsuit alleges two defendants paid $2,775 for the contents of the storage unit and later sold the items for $10 million to entrepreneur Bardia Persa, who created the Web site.

A message sent to an e-mail address for Persa on Saturday afternoon was not immediately returned. Persa is due in court on Feb. 16 to address the injunction.

The issue is whether the story surrounding the publication of all the scandalous photos and videos is real, not whether the materials themselves are legit.

Sources are saying that Paris is profiting from the website and the story is an attempt at avoiding responsibilty for her own exposure. I think that other people who appear in the videos should be talking to their lawyers, if they aren't already. I am not linking to any of it. Google parisexposed if you must.

Paris gets Probation for her DUI

Paris had issued a not guilty plea to the DUI charge through her representative at an earlier court proceeding. Now her lawyers have plea bargained down to reckless driving with a no contest plea.

She will be on probation for 36 months and during that time there will be zero tolerance for driving with alcohol in her system. She also has to attend some classes and pay a total of about $1500 in fines and court costs.

It sounds fair to me. Even though she has had issues with reckless driving in the past, the judge couldn't consider most of them because the police always let her go with a warning, possibly even without a warning. She has been known to effuse about how much she loves the police immediately after they let her go. I don't know if there were any quotes about the way she felt about the officers who actually arrested her last year. I don't think they got any love.

Oh, and I don't really think it is fair that she gets to be absent for all of these court dates.

I live in a cave and news about Paris Hilton's musical debut was in my face for months, it got lots of FREE promotion from the media. Even if they were predicting it's failure they were still in effect generating interest.

Now that the actual product is in stores the fact that very few people would actually pay to own her music is apparent. The number I found was 75,000 copies. I think it might have sold better if it had sounded atrocious. Most reviewers have conceded that it is a very well crafted and inoffensive bunch of club tracks.

If I was interviewing Paris Hilton, I would pick out some of the musical performers who are not cute at all from the Billboard Album chart and ask her to compare her album with theirs.

Here's my conspiracy theory, Nichole Richie dumped her fiance prior to production of the current Simple Life. Paris has to be single too so she can compete. Apparently the premise of the show is a rip off of trading spouses. A selected family has their wife and mother replaced by Paris and Nichole who get one week each in the house. The family decides who was the best at the end of it.

I hope the families get some REALLY good compensation. The mothers will return to sexually frustrated husbands who will appreciate the work they do to keep things running smoothly at home.
